DXS RD and The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists
The Society’s Private Practice Committee recently took a significant step towards ensuring that members in private practice are placed in a favourable position when it comes to podiatry referrals from GPs. In August‚ the committee concluded an important agreement with DXS Referrals Direct that signals the first steps towards private practitioners gaining direct access to GP referrals via an electronic directory service which is designed to place members on the GPs desktop.

The move is in line with Committee’s undertaking to keep Private Practitioners abreast of potential threats and opportunities presented by the new Health and Social Bill and where possible‚ to capitalise on developments that will best serve members’ interests. In anticipation of this development the Society has negotiated the rights to offer members in private practice the opportunity to promote detailed information about their practices to their local GPs via the new DXS Referrals Direct directory system.

DXS RD values the relationship between the society and its members strongly and considers the partnership to be the first step in realising the NHS’s vision of patient choice.
